Contemporary Crystal Lighting – Brick Barn Winery

PROJECT: Crystal chandeliers, star wall sconces, and a star pendant

WHERE: Brick Barn Winery Estate, Buellton, CA

Located on a historic ranch, a recently converted wine estate tasting room has opened, sparing no expense to quality and details. In the early 1970’s the Italian stonemason, Carmello Valente created a 36 stall Arabian horse barn made from hand-laid red bricks. The barn endures as an achievement of artistic and physical influential quality to detail. They have restored Carlo’s original brickwork to serve as the centerpiece of the estate experience and most of the original 1970’s architectural features have been preserved or embellished.

While history still holds strong at the Brick Barn Winery there is an elegant zeal and warmth throughout. From the grand crystal lighting, to cozy seating, fountains, fire pits, spacious patios, a tasting room, private tastings and tours. All while soaking in the peaceful setting marked by great oaks, adjacent vines and views of the towering Santa Ynez Mountains.

Frontier Ironworks Inc. started the fabrication/design process with several CAD sketches that began as ovals then changed to rectangles and finally settling on a combination of round arrays and long trays.  Each of these fixtures is constructed with the latest LED lighting technology and nearly 100 custom crystals.  That’s almost 1000 crystals total that went into this project!  Even though the manufacturing alone had its fair share of complications and hurdles to overcome it would have never been possible without the collaboration of the local design team at Illum Lighting Design.
